The Foundation’s staff provide the leadership for the planning and execution of the following programs and events, which support the educational mission of the Douglas County School District. The FDCS staff also secures sponsorship funding for several of these programs.
Lend-A-Hand School Supply Drive
In 2016 the DCEF partnered with more than 50 business and community organizations for the annual Lend A Hand School Supply Drive. Donations are collected throughout Douglas County and distributed to families in need. In 2017, more than 1500 students received supplies to start the school year.
2018 will be the 10th year of the Foundation for Douglas County School’s (FDCS) Lend A Hand Back to School Supply Drive. If you would like to help or to find out more here.
Through partnerships with Denver’s premier sports teams and attractions, the Foundation engages Douglas County residents in exciting community-building activities each year. We work with our partners to provide substantially discounted tickets to cultural venues and sporting events. District families are provided opportunities to enjoy professional sporting events with the Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Rockies and Denver Nuggets. FDCS also offers cultural experiences through the Denver Center for Performing Arts along with outdoor fun and entertainment thanks to our partnership with Elitch Gardens and the National Western Stock Show. The FDCS provides the marketing, sales and accounting tools for schools to participate in these fundraising events. Last year, over 6,000 tickets were sold raising nearly $40,000 for DCSD schools! The Foundation is always developing new partnerships for increased variety of choices for the Community Event Program. Girls & Women in Sports Luncheon
Community Events have been a great gift to our school and our families. The reduced ticket cost allows all families to attend these great events. The monies raised and given back to our school have helped support our classrooms, directly affecting the kids. It is super easy to promote and is such a great way to bring our community together!Tambria (Tammy) O’Brien
Thank you for providing an opportunity for our young people that will spark their understanding of how important it is now to begin to consider their future careers.
I wanted to personally thank you for the school supplies. Unfortunately, we are in a position that we have to ask for help this year and we greatly appreciate all who have donated their time and money for these supplies. My kids are fully prepared to go back to school this year and I have you all to thank!DCSD Parent
Career Connect really helped me decide what I want to do and I’m excited to participate next year!Student Participant
